The Pan-Tones
The Pan-Tones is a triple flute-powered ensemble of Texas based multi-instrumentalists with an enthusiastic irreverence for classical and popular styles from Peru, Brazil, and Japan. Andean music includes folk tunes (and a bit of Mozart) arranged by Los Incas, Los Caballeros, Los Destellos, and Los Laikas, and adapted for classical flutes. Japanese-American set includes Jpop, music from Studio Ghibli/Joe Hisaishi, and theme songs from the 90s and 00s. The name The Pan-Tones comes from the use of pan flutes in Andean music, and also refers to the range of music styles.
Duo Sonation
Duo Sonation aims to expand the repertoire for flute and oboe by creating aurally accessible and engaging programs for audiences of all backgrounds. The duo was formed through common inspiration in the sonification of nature within music. “Sonation” itself defined as a sound produced by bird using mechanisms other than the syrinx and has commissioned works incorporating these interests. Together, they have collaborated with other instrumentalists, such as William Davidson (piano) and Garrett Brown (bassoon) to further diversify music ensembles and works with flute and oboe included. Jessica Schury and Evan Tegley formed Duo Sonation in 2019, while students at Stony Brook University.
Vox Venti
Based in North Texas, Vox Venti is comprised of local performers and friends: Alaina Clarice, Linda Jenkins, Jessica Schury, and Lucy Song. Vox Venti seeks to showcase new works by underrepresented composers and add to the dynamic genre of flute quartet repertoire. They have performed at the Texas Flute Society Festival, the Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention, and the Florida Flute Convention.
